1. ‘Evita'
I can only imagine that it was prejudice from the voters on the Academy Awards committee that Madonna didn't get a nod for ‘Best Actress' for her sensational turn in ‘Evita'. The Andrew Lloyd-Webber and Tim Rice adaptation was directed by Alan Parker, and Madonna starred as iconic historical figure Eva Perón. She brought steel, warmth and emotion to the role, which remains to this day her greatest achievement in film. Holding her own opposite Antonio Banderas, Jonathan Pryce and Jimmy Nail, Madonna nailed her portrayal of Eva and she showcased an increased vocal range after taking singing lessons to ensure she wowed with the songs. Pure magic!
