1. ‘Slapface’
Ever cried in a horror film before? Well it was a first for me too. Jeremiah Kipp’s ‘Slapface’ is a deeply affecting exploration of grief, trauma and abuse, telling the story of an orphaned young boy who befriends a monster in a dilapidated building. A burden to his older brother and with no friends to speak of, the boy puts his trust in the monster and sets off a chain of shocking events. Not just the best film of the festival, the best film I’ve seen in a long time.
