6. ‘Coming Home in the Dark’

Daniel Gillies shakes off his ‘The Originals’ persona and terrifies the hell out of you in this revenge thriller from James Ashcroft. Gillies plays one of the murderous drifters that kidnaps a family enjoying a vacation in a seemingly random incident. As the story unfolds, the reasoning is revealed but there’s plenty of brutality along the way. Bleak and brilliant.
