‘The Five Doctors’ (1983)
What better Christmas present can there be besides bringing all of the Doctors together! Besides, of course, William Hartnell, who died in 1975, and Tom Baker, who didn’t want to return to the show only two years after leaving it. This is the ultimate celebration, and as it was transmitted on 25th November 1983, only two days after the twentieth anniversary of the first episode’s broadcast, it aired only a month before Christmas. There is a strong theme of redemption, as Peter Davison’s Doctor unites with his past selves to defeat a renegade Time Lord’s evil plan. The massacre of the Cybermen by the Raston Warrior Robot is proper entertainment, too!
