The seventh episode of Ray Donovan season 6 saw Ray (Liev Schreiber) having to decide where his loyalties lay.

If you’re not up to date with Ray Donovan and like to avoid spoilers we suggest you don’t read any further.

After being arrested, and a little bit tortured, Ray was told he needed to ruin Novak’s (Lola Glaudini) campaign for mayor. Ray wasn’t keen on the idea and he only got out thanks to the efforts of Mac (Domenick Lombardozzi).

While Ray sorted things out he had Lena (Katherine Moennig) look after Bridget (Kerris Dorsey). Mac was under increasing pressure from Internal Affairs to get something on the mayor. They also roped Ray into their plans leaving him little choice but to comply.

Ray had Justin’es brother arrested to use as leverage. He then had her do a TV interview to say that the attack, that made Novak look like a hero, was staged.

Meanwhile, Terry (Eddie Marsan) took Bunchy (Dash Mihok) and Daryll (Pooch Hall) on a road trip to Boston. There they visited the graves of their mother and sister before going for a drink and ending up in a bar fight. Bunchy stopped by a church to have a rant at God but when he came out he saw Aunt Sandy and gave chase.

Elsewhere, Mickey (Jon Voigt) bought a train ticket to Buffalo. He tried to make amends with Bridget before he left. Back at the station he became paranoid and ended up shoving a cop in the face and then fleeing in a panic.

At the end of the episode, Ray awoke in his apartment to find a man sat with him. A surprised Ray asked who he was and the guy smacked him in the face.
