6. We Own The Night (2007)
Phoenix turned to producing, in this Mark Wahlberg thriller, and plays the nightclub owner trying to save his brother and father from Russian Mafia hitmen. Set during the late ‘80s in New York City, the film embodies tension and tragedy, and starts a run of avant-garde roles that would establish his career as an actor.
