The wait for season 6 of The Blacklist has been excruciating for fans in the UK but the show will be back on Sky One on Wednesday 5th June 2019.
It’s been a year since the season 5 finale aired on Sky One and the entire of season 6 has aired in the US. Already renewed for a seventh season, which should begin in the US in early 2020, The Blacklist has been mysteriously absent from UK schedules.
Past seasons have aired fairly close to the US transmission but for season 6 UK fans have had to avoid spoilers on social media, which hasn’t been all that easy to do. Why there’s been such a long wait is a mystery but keep those fingers crossed that to make up for it, Sky One might air seasons 6 and 7 pretty much back-to-back for us fans.
For those that need a refresher, the season 5 finale threw a huge twist by revealing that Liz (Megan Boone) had been working with her sister Jennifer (Fiona Dourif) and had identified the bones in the bag that Reddington (James Spader) was desperately trying to keep secret.
Turns out that the bones belonged to the real Raymond Reddington and that the Reddington we’ve known for five seasons is a fraud. That reveal obviously has much wider implications but season 6 promises to see Liz and Jennifer going up against Reddington to expose the truth.
We’re just hoping that the show continues the return to form that season 5 delivered.
