If you’re a fan of Blindspot we’ve got some great news for you. NBC has announced that the show has been renewed and will be back for a final fifth season.
Here’s the tweet from the official Blindspot Twitter account that confirmed the news:
LET’S DO THIS. 👊 #Blindspot is coming back for another season! pic.twitter.com/bIdBnsNqQr

Like the season 3 and 4 renewals, this renewal is unexpected as the show looked to be cancelled after season 2. A fifth season looked the least likely of the lot with the show suffering several breaks during season 4.
The show is currently on a final break before the final 3 episodes of Blindspot season 4 air. The show returns for these on 24th May in the US with a double bill finale on 31st May. In the UK Blindspot season 4 will resume on 3rd June. We’re expecting a huge twist in the finale.
The Blindspot cast include Jaimie Alexander, Sullivan Stapleton, Ashley Johnson, Rob Brown, Audrey Esparza and Ennis Esmer.
Watch the Blindspot season 4 trailer below:
The show focuses on a mysterious tattooed woman (Jaimie Alexander) who was found naked in a duffel bag in Times Square in season one. With no memories of who she is or her past the FBI decide to call her Jane Doe. The FBI team who found her discovered that the tattoos on her body are clues to unsolved crimes.
The ratings have dropped over the course of the four seasons with the recent season 4 the worst performing of them all.
There’s no word yet on the number of episodes in the final fifth season but seasons 2-4 all had 22 episodes each. By the end of season 4, 89 episodes will have aired. There could be a clue though via a tweet from series creator Martin Gero:

As you can see, his tweet featured the hashtag #100episodes which presumably means we’re in for at least 11 more episodes in season 5. The show has been accused of dragging things out at times, so maybe we’re in for a shorter final season?
