Sam Smith and former Fifth Harmony member Normani will release their new single Dancing With a Stranger on Friday 11th January 2019 through Capitol Records.
Described as ‘a smooth slice of sultry, R’n’B influenced pop where Sam and Normani’s vocals effortlessly glide over the production’, Dancing With a Stranger came about when Sam and Normani had a chance encounter in the studio. Sam was writing with Stargate and Jimmy Napes and Normani was in the studio next door.
On the new single Sam Smith says, “I’m so excited for everyone to hear “Dancing With a Stranger,” which I wrote on The Thrill Of It All tour last year. For me it bottles everything I was feeling whilst juggling my personal life and touring. It is also such a beautiful moment for me as I’m a huge, huge fan of Normani and everything she is. I’m so excited to watch her light shine. I hope everyone enjoys hearing this song as much as I do.”
Normani added, “I’m truly blessed having the opportunity to create with one of the greatest vocalists of this decade. I think about the artists that I frequently listen to daily and Sam Smith has definitely been one of them for some time now. Dancing With a Stranger is the follow-up to Sam’s global hit Promises with Calvin Harris. For Normani it’s the follow-up to her debut solo single Love Lies with Khalid, which was released last year.
