OppoSuits Merry Mario review

Christmas is almost upon us and more and more I’m seeing people wearing their Christmas jumpers with pride, it’s as much part of  Christmas as turkey and cranberry and overcooked veg. OppoSuits are hoping to get in on this festive action with their own Christmas fashion range, not of jumpers but of full suits, shirts and ties. Not only do they have a full range of festive fashion for men, women and children, they also have a few designs aimed straight at the gamer.

The suits in question are Winter Pac-Man and this years new addition Merry Mario. The Winter Pac-Man is a black suit with snowflakes, festive leaves and Pac-Man and ghosts whilst the Merry Mario is blue with snowflakes, leaves and of course Mario himself. Of the two, Pac-Man is slightly more subtle with Mario being a bit more in your face given its lighter base colour.

We’ve been given a Mario suit to wear this festive season and to say its attracted some attention is an understatement. After a few issues getting the correct size (I would aim for a size above what you would normally wear) my suit arrived very quickly and was packaged really nicely. It comes folded up in a Merry Mario box and the way it’s presented would make it a really good present for the gamer in your life. Given that it came in a pretty small box I expected in to come out creased and in need of some attention. I was completely wrong, somehow it came out of the box ready to wear. I don’t know what magic the guys at OppoSuits have cast on the suit but it was, and remains, completely crease free. Inside the box was a jacket, trousers and a tie all in the same design.

After putting it on I did feel a bit silly but I guess that’s the point of such an outfit. It definitely requires a certain amount of confidence to wear the suit, but once I’d had it on for a while I didn’t really think about it. I wore it on a Christmas night and out it definitely attracted some attention. The reaction was very mixed with some people thinking it was cool and others thinking it was simply funny. The initial reaction of most people upon first seeing the outfit was to laugh but as with any novelty clothing the effect soon wears off and you are left simply wearing a suit until someone else spots it.

The suit is really easy to maintain and can go in the washing machine. I would recommend giving it a wash first as the dyes used do make the trousers feel a little stiff to start with, this could also be down to starch given how crease free everything has remained. The jacket has a nice purple lining so wearing this straight away presented no issues. I found the jacket also worked well on its own with a white t-shirt underneath and a pair of jeans so if you don’t have the courage to wear the whole ensemble you can still get plenty of wear from the jacket on its own.

To summarise, I really enjoyed wearing the Merry Mario suit. I know that I didn’t look as good as the models on the website but it was fun nonetheless. Once you get over the idea that everyone is looking at you (because actually they aren’t!) you can relax and simply enjoy the outfit. These suits are perfect for anyone who wants to get into the festive spirit but wants something different to a jumper, they would also make brilliant gifts given how well packaged they are when they arrive. OppoSuits gets a big thumbs up from me.
