Game of Thrones 7×02 Stormborn preview

Game of Thrones season 7 began with Dragonstone and although it was a longer episode than usual it just flew by. It updated us on the majority of the main cast and set events in motion for the rest of the season.

If you’re not up to date on the Game of Thrones TV show and like to avoid spoilers we suggest you don’t read any further. Below is information we’ve taken from the episode 2 preview trailer as well as plenty of speculation about what we think might happen.

The second episode is written by Bryan Cogman with Mark Mylod in the director’s chair for the first time this season. The episode is titled Stormborn, which we presume is a reference to Daenerys. The synopsis for the episode is:

Daenerys (Emilia Clarke) receives an unexpected visitor. Jon (Kit Harington) faces a revolt. Tyrion (Peter Dinklage) plans the conquest of Westeros.

The trailer opens up at Winterfell where Jon Snow is being told that a Targaryen cannot be trusted. Presumably he’s just been given the news that Dany and her armada has arrived.

At King’s Landing, Cersei (Lena Headey) says that The Mad King’s daughter will destroy the realm. Cersei always has another trick up her sleeve, what will it be this time?

In the map room at Dragonstone, Yara Greyjoy (Gemma Whelan) tells Dany, Tyrion, Varys (Conleth Hill), Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson), that they have an army of fleets and three dragons. She suggests that they hit King’s Landing. We’re guessing that sets up a fight against Euron (Pilou Asbæk) and the Iron Fleet. Could the unexpected visitor be Euron?

There’s a snippet of Arya (Maisie Williams) looking concerned as she goes face to face with a wolf. Will she finally be reunited with her direwolf Nymeria?

The final montage shows a woman apparently repeatedly stabbing someone, a glimpse of Sansa (Sophie Turner) thinking, Yara Greyjoy kissing Ellaria Sand (Indira Varma) and Varys talking to Dany. The last shot shows someone, maybe Jon Snow, has Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen) by the throat.

Check back during the week as we’ll update this preview with new information as it’s released. Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Game of Thrones season 7 continues at 2am (simulcast with the US) and 9pm Mondays on Sky Atlantic in the UK.
