Blindspot 2×15 Draw O Caesar, Erase a Coward preview

The latest episode of Blindspot saw the return of the wonderful Rich Dotcom (Ennis Esmer).

The episode opened up with a flashback to 2001 where a group of college kids were breaking into a school. Their aim was to hack into the computer system to improve their grades. One of the kids would eventually grow up to be Rich Dotcom.

Back at the FBI, Patterson (Ashley Johnson) solved a new tattoo when the current market value of Lithium climbed unusually high. The market data made an equation balance on one of the tattoo’s.

Patterson analysed the symbol in the equation tattoo and found it was used by Daedalus, a secret society from Jameson College. More investigation uncovered the names of some of their members and one jumped out – Gord Enver aka Rich Dotcom.

Weller (Sullivan Stapleton) reluctantly agrees to use him and when they had him brought in from custody he made his usual grand entrance. This time it appeared that Rich had found religion and entered carrying various religious texts. He was also wearing religious dress.

Weller had no time for his nonsense so got down to business. He struggled to get much sense out of Rich until they showed him the equation. He was surprised to see it and immediately knew what it meant – a recipe for war. He proposed that the U.S. would be looking to invade a Lithium rich country.

After pushing Rich he told the team a likely suspect would be fellow Daedalus member, Zach Riley. He was a tech entrepreneur who owned an electric car company among others. Rich told them an upcoming event at the College would be used as a cover for a Daedalus meeting.

Weller brought in Boston, Rich’s former partner to help them get into the party. It was decided that Boston would attend with Patterson while Weller would post as Rich’s partner. Getting into the party proved tougher than expected due to Rich not giving them all the relevant information.

They eventually got inside and determined that Riley wasn’t behind the war as he’d sold the car company. The real culprit had bought it off him and took Rich hostage. He shot Rich in the foot to get him to hack into a system to gain access to nuclear material.

Fortunately Weller turned up to save the day which involved shooting Rich a second time. It looks like we’ll be seeing more of Rich as he let on that he’d solved another tattoo.

Elsewhere in the episode, Nas (Archie Panjabi) took Jane (Jaimie Alexander) and Roman (Luke Mitchell) to visit various houses that Shepherd (Michelle Hurd) had lived in. The hope was that it would trigger some childhood memories.

The only memory that it did trigger was one from Roman. He remembered murdering an innocent woman. After telling Jane she realised that her brother had murdered Taylor Shaw’s mother. Jane told him to keep it secret and that she would tell Weller.

At the end of the episode, Riley got into the back of a car. Inside was Borden (Ukweli Roach) and the pair had a conversation. Riley was worried about the FBI but Borden told him that Phase 2 was coming and that they needed Riley to make it happen.

The next episode is Draw O Caesar, Erase a Coward and here’s the official synopsis:

Following a lead from a tattoo, the team splits into unconventional pairs to track down a dangerous underworld courier.
