The latest episode of Elementary, saw Sherlock (Jonny Lee Miller) and Watson (Lucy Liu) racing against the clock to rescue a kidnapped woman.
The episode opened up showing a woman making breakfast and a man coming to say goodbye. It all seemed quite innocent until you notice she’s wearing some kind of collar that he attaches to the ceiling before leaving. She is obviously her prisoner and he’s rather prepared.
The action moved to Sherlock tying up a different case against a man who had been stealing from an auction house he worked for. While conducting an interview with the man Sherlock found his attention elsewhere.
Outside the interview room he could see a man on the phone. It was the man from the start of the episode and he looked nervous. Sherlock couldn’t hear him talk but using his incredible lipreading skills he was able to catch some of the conversation and he didn’t like it.
He quickly left to follow the man and stole his phone. The man realised what had happened and came straight back to tackle Sherlock. Before he got the phone back, Sherlock was able to see a snippet of video showing the kidnapped girl.
Sherlock and Watson kept the information from the police and broke into the man’s house. However he’d been careful and they couldn’t find evidence against him. Instead they brought him in for questioning based on his pirate movie collection.
To try and move the investigation on Watson spoke to the man’s ex-wife. Following that they came up against plenty of dead ends until some paintings in the man’s house led Sherlock to focus on a particular beach.
There they found some keys belonging to the man which led them to a second house. Inside they found a captive girl but not the one Sherlock was looking for. A particular brand of milk made Watson suspicious of the the man’s ex-wife who used the same milk.
At her house they found her preparing to burn it down. She’d been working with her ex-husband and had killed him. Outside in the boot of a car they found the missing girl.
Elsewhere in the episode, Shinwell (Nelsan Ellis) was pushing forward with his plan to take down SBK. However he wasn’t putting the effort into his training and that was frustrating Watson. He didn’t feel that the training was helping him all that much.
Shinwell was trying to setup a huge drug deal and was advised against it. At the time of the deal some of training kicked in and he was able to detect a man lying to him. He called off the deal and then decided to refocus on his training.
The next episode is Crowned Clown, Downtown Brown. When Holmes and Watson investigate a clown’s murder upstate, they discover a connection between his death and the creation of a new weaponized virus. Also, Watson helps Bell when he’s targeted by his new love interest Chantal’s (Chasten Harmon) ex-husband in attempt to sabotage her career at the district attorney’s office.
