Vikings will be available on Freeview and Freesat for the first time when season 1 premieres on Blaze later this month.

Kicking off on Sunday 26th February at 10pm, Vikings features an international all-star cast and is created by Michael Hirst (Academy-Award winning film Elizabeth; and the Emmy and Golden Globe nominated series The Tudors).

The series chronicles the adventures of Ragnar Lothbrok (Travis Fimmel), an actual historical figure, and his family as they live among the savage realities of the Viking culture. Vikings truly depicts the brutal reality of the time – from violent battles, to fierce fights for the throne, to fishing on longboats – Vikings follows Ragnar’s tumultuous journey.

The cast also features Gabriel Byrne (Usual Suspects, Miller’s Crossing) as Earl Haraldson, the Viking ruler and Ragnar’s foe; Katheryn Winnick (Bones, Love and Other Drugs) as Lagertha, a fierce shield maiden and Ragnar’s wife; British actor Clive Standen (Taken, Everest) as Rollo, Ragnar’s impulsive, care-free brother; Jessalyn Gilsig (Scandal, Glee) as Siggy, Earl Haraldson’s beautiful wife; Gustaf Skarsgard (The Way Back, Evil) as Floki, a good friend of Ragnar and builder of the prototype of the new generation of Viking ships and George Blagden (Les Miserables, Wrath of the Titans) as Athelstan, a young, innocent Christian monk. Michael Hirst is Executive Producer along with Morgan O’Sullivan (Penny Dreadful, Camelot) John Weber (The Handmaids Tale; Incorperated), Sherry Marsh and Alan Gasmer.

Blaze is available to over 20 million viewers in the UK on free-to-air platforms. It is also available to over 12.4 million Sky subscribers.

Vikings first premiered in the UK and Ireland on HISTORY.
