10 things we want from Game of Thrones season 7

The Game of Thrones season six finale aired in the UK at the end of June (read our recap). It really was an incredible season with so much going on it was hard to keep up.

If you haven’t seen the final episode of Game of Thrones season six yet and want to avoid spoilers then please stop reading now. If you are up-to-date or just don’t mind spoilers, then please keep on reading.

The season six finale of Game of Thrones saw Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey) put an end to a large number of her enemies including Margaery (Natalie Dormer) and the High Sparrow (Jonathan Pryce). She used the green Wildfire to destroy the Sept of Baelor to avoid her trial and kill everyone in it. Her actions resulted in the suicide of her son King Tommen (Dean-Charles Chapman) and she ended up sat on the Iron Throne.

Arya Stark (Maisie Williams) put an end to Walder Frey (David Bradley). Sam (John-Bradley West) arrived at the Citadel with Gilly (Hannah Murray).

At Winterfell, Jon Snow (Kit Harington) banished Melisandre (Carice von Houten) after Ser Davos (Liam Cunningham) found out the truth about the death of Shireen Baratheon. Sansa (Sophie Turner) rejected the advances of Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen).

Benjen (Joseph Mawle) left Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Meera Reed (Ellie Kendrick) at the Wall. Bran also learnt the truth about Jon Snow’s parents.

Lord Varys (Conleth Hill) made a deal with the Sand Snakes and the Tyrells to help Daenerys (Emilia Clarke). She finally set off to cross the Narrow Sea with her dragons and armies.

A seventh season for Game of Thrones has already been confirmed. Here’s our top 10 wishes for the seventh season:

1. Daenerys to finally arrive in Westeros

In the season six finale we saw Dany aboard a ship with Tyrion (Peter Dinklage), Lord Varys, Grey Worm (Jacob Anderson) and Missandei (Nathalie Emmanuel). They were finally leaving Meereen to cross the Narrow Sea to Westeros. Carrying her armies were ships from the deal with Yara (Gemma Whelan) and Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) as well as ships from House Tyrell and Martell.

With the help from Yara and Theon we’re expecting Dany to repay the favour by helping them retake the Iron Islands from Euron Greyjoy. Last we saw Euron was to build a new Iron Fleet so maybe we’ll see some kind of naval battle when they arrive. Surely he’ll be no match for Dany, her armies and her dragons?

2. The Starks to reunite

Jon Snow is now the King in the North and back together with Sansa (Sophie Turner) in Winterfell. It would make sense for Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) and Arya to head back home as well.

With Arya back in Westeros it will be interesting to see if she decides to head to Winterfell or if she will be hellbent on putting her assassin training to good use to complete her kill list. It would also be brilliant to see her reunited with the Hound (Rory McCann).

Bran has a huge task to get back to Winterfell as he’s still crippled and only has Meera Reid (Ellie Kendrick) for company. Standing in his way is the Wall and he’s also marked by the Night’s King who will surely be pursuing him.

3. Jaime Lannister to become the Queenslayer

Cersei now sits atop the Iron Throne after defeating most of her enemies in one fell swoop with the use of Wildfire to destroy the Sept of Baelor. The power is going to her head and we think Jaime (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) is probably best placed to put an end to her.

4. Jon Snow to learn about his true parents

The viewers all now know that Jon Snow is not Ned Stark’s bastard but the son of Lyanna Stark and Rhaegar Targaryen. Bran is the only character to know this and we hope he gets to tell him or at least get a message to Jon next season.

Being part Targaryen would make Dany his aunt. We predict an alliance between the pair and possibly even a marriage later on.

5. Cleganebowl

Clegane / The Hound

The Hound was brought back for a reason and we think that is must surely be to put an end to his brother the Mountain. Fans are calling this potential showdown, Cleganebowl, and it would make for an epic fight. We’d of course be rooting for the Hound. Maybe Arya could get involved and help him take the Mountain down?

6. Jorah Mormont to find the cure for his greyscale

Dany ordered Jorah (Iain Glen) to seek out a cure for his greyscale and we’d love to see him be successful. Presuming that he completes his mission we’d love to see him back at the side of his Queen.

7. Sansa to manipulate Littlefinger for a change

Sansa has come a long way over the six seasons and is finally playing the game. She’s perfectly positioned now, and with enough experience, to turn the tables on Littlefinger (Aiden Gillen) and get her revenge. His apparent infatuation for her will surely be his biggest weakness that will lead to his inevitable downfall?

8. More Lyanna Mormont

Lady Lyanna Mormont (Bella Ramsey), the feisty young head of House Mormont, is possibly the greatest character in the series so far. She was brilliant in her brief appearances this season and we’d love to see her involved further.

9. The White Walkers to overcome the Wall

Winter is finally here and so is the Night’s King, the White Walkers and the Wight army. They are surely still pursuing Bran and will need to overcome the magical powers of the Wall. If Bran makes it through then they will follow and we’re guessing the Wall might not survive season 7.

10. Samwell Tarly to become a Maester and make an important discovery

We have a feeling that Sam is key to how Game of Thrones will end. As well as becoming the new Maester of Castle Black his time in the Citadel might lead to him learning how to stop the White Walkers to help Jon Snow save Westeros.
