Wearable sensor MetaWear Coin launches on Kickstarter

MetaWear Coin, which is designed to allow both businesses and makers to develop smart and connected low-power wearable sensor products, has launched on Kickstarter with hopes of raising $50,000.

This little device has incredible potential and is limited only by your imagination. For example, create a bag that notifies you when you leave it behind, and a boxing glove that can provide you with data from each hit, a necklace that glows different colours when you get a phone call or even a custom fitness tracker.

The integrated platform includes wireless hardware loaded with sensors, a simple and functional case, easy to use SDKs, lots of open source code and sample mobile apps to get the user started. Out of the box, MetaWear Coin is manufacturing ready, certified, and cost optimized, meaning the user can build rapidly and go straight to market.
We are developers ourselves and understand how important it is to be able scale projects from prototypes to mass manufacturing. We’ve designed both the hardware and MetaWear’s API with this in mind.
MetaWear Coin can run 3-6 months on a single coin-cell battery, and MetaWear’s proprietary MetaSense software gives you data analysis tools that allow you to; process sensor data, log information, get user input, track movements, recognize gestures, turn devices on/off and trigger events. This coupled with MetaWear’s existing Android and iOS SDKs allow anyone with minimal programming and hardware expertise to interact with the board and all of its sensors, create an iOS or Android App, and in minutes have a production quality Bluetooth Low Energy product that is ready to go to market.
We launched the first version of MetaWear on Kickstarter and received truly amazing support. We listened to our community and have designed the new version of MetaWear with their feedback in mind. MetaWear Coin is smaller, has reduced power consumption and runs on a single coin cell battery that doesn’t need to be replaced for months. We’ve also designed a case to protect the board in the most real world usage scenarios. We can’t wait to share the MetaWear Coin with the Kickstarter community!
