Sarah Lancashire leads RTS Programme Awards winners

Sarah Lancashire picked up top honours at last night’s RTS Programme Awards 2013-2014 for her role in BBC One drama series Happy Valley.

The winners were announced at a ceremony hosted by John Sergeant on Tuesday 17 March at the Grosvenor House Hotel, London. Lancashire picked up Female Actor and Tom Hollander won Male Actor or his portrayal of Dylan Thomas in BBC Cymru Wales and BBC Twoā€™s A Poet in New York.

Other winners on the night included Line of Duty for Drama Series, The Honourable Woman for Drama Serial and Murdered By My Boyfriend for Single Drama. Strictly Come Dancing’s Claudia Winkleman picked up the award for Entertainment Performance.

Chaired by David Liddiment, the RTS Programme Awards honour excellence across all genres of television programming, from soaps to history, childrenā€™s fiction to comedy performance and sports, and recognise exceptional actors, presenters, writers and production teams as well as the programmes themselves.
