Pianist and singer-songwriter Judith Owen releases her new album Somebody’s Child next week.
Mixing her love of musical variety, the album features songs that are vignettes of life crafted from the perspective that we are all āsomebodyās childā – parental as well as planetary.
To celebrate the release of the album, Judith has compiled a playlist for us themed around the love she has for her pets. Find out what tracks she selected by reading on…
1. Martha My Dear – The Beatles
The brilliant McCartney song that thatās about his Old English Sheepdog, but could be about his girlfriendā¦either way it makes sense!

2. Hound Dog – Big Momma Thornton
Sexual innuendo served in the best possible way. Makes the Kingās 1950ās āsafe for the white folkā version pale in comparison!

5. Walking the Dog – Judith Owen
No innuendoās in my version.. just a plain story of how different men and women are and how sometimes I just rather be taking āVictorā for a walk than arguing about the toilet seat!

6. Walkin’ My Cat Named Dog – Norma Tanega
The most ridiculous, typically 60ās faux mind altering pet song. And yes.. it was a hit!

7. Dead Cat Bounce – Harry Shearer
My husbandās brilliant response to the Quixotic stock market and a common phrase used on Wall Street
8. Pet Sounds – Beach Boys
Simply the best album/song titles ever from one of the greatest, most inventive minds in music.. Brian Wilson
[brid video=”35677″ player=”531″ title=”Pet Sounds (Stereo) The Beach Boys”]
9. Man of the Hour – Norah Jones
A fabulous song about choosing the company of your dog over a loser lover. Sheās such a soulful singer and pianist and this is a beautiful live version from her.

10. I’ll Watch You While You’re Sleeping – Judith Owen
My second song about my old dog Victor. He was dying and I wanted to thank him for everything and to let him know I was watching over over him as he had me all those years. Theyāre our babies so this my lullaby…
