Corinne Bailey Rae has released the music video for her new single Stop Where You Are.
The first official single to be taken from her new album The Heart Speaks In Whispers, which is released on 13th May 2016, Stop Where You Are premiered on BBC Radio 2 last week with Jo Whiley. The video was shot around London’s Southbank.
Lyrically the song is described as ‘encouraging us to recognise the beauty in the moment rather than believing happiness is only to be attained in the future.’
As Corinne explains, āSometimes we hold our happiness away from ourselves because weāre waiting for the perfect moment and we say, āWhen I get this job, Iāll be happy. When I lose this weight, Iāll be happy. When I get a partner, Iāll be happyā. So I really wanted to write this song, which is about being in the moment and being present, and stopping and ritualising the moment, celebrating it. I love the image of being in darkness and lighting a fire and saying, āHere we are together. This is life with all its pain, all its agony, all its beauty, all of its joy. This is it, this is what we have, this is the world that weāve made!āā
The Heart Speaks in Whispers will be released via Good Groove / Virgin EMI and it’s Corinne’s first collection of new material in six years. The album was recorded at her studio in Leeds, and in Los Angeles, and was produced by Corinne with Steve Brown.
Tonight Corinne makes her live return with her first show in five years at The Tabernacle in London. She will also be supporting Lionel Richie on his forthcoming UK tour, including three nights at The O2 in London.
Corinne will also perform at UK festivals including Live At Leeds, the Cheltenham Jazz Festival and Cornbury Festival.
