Tiera Kennedy announces new album ‘Rooted’ & samples Justin Timberlake

Tiera Kennedy wowed audiences this week with a captivating performance of her summer hit ‘Cry' on GMA3. Alongside her performance, Kennedy shared exciting news during her chat with hosts DeMarco Morgan, Eva Pilgrim, and Dr. Darien Sutton, revealing the title and release date of her highly anticipated debut album ‘Rooted' set to drop on October 18.

Adding to the buzz, Kennedy announced her nominations for two People's Choice Country Awards: Collaboration Song of the Year and Cover Song of the Year, both for ‘Blackbird.' Fans can vote for Kennedy until August 23, with the awards airing on NBC and Peacock on September 26.

Reflecting on her GMA3 appearance, Kennedy expressed her excitement, saying, “It feels surreal to finally be announcing this album and on GMA at that. I fully embraced my R&B Country sound through ‘Rooted' and shared my full heart, so I’m so excited for it to be out in the world come October!”

The album’s lead single ‘Cry' showcases Kennedy’s distinctive genre-blending style, sampling Justin Timberlake’s ‘Cry Me A River' and offering an empowering message of self-worth. The track, co-written with Cameron Bedell, Jared Scott, Justin Timberlake, Timbaland, and Scott Storch, is already making waves, even featuring in a series of McDonald’s advertisements.

‘Rooted' follows the release of the tender ballad ‘I Ain’t A Cowgirl' which has earned praise from Billboard and HuffPost. Kennedy continues to gain recognition for her unique sound and heartfelt storytelling, with critics from The New York Times to Rolling Stone hailing her as an emerging country star to watch.
