Rotherham-born singer-songwriter Lauren Housley has released her new single My Sleeping Heart today and you can listen to it exclusively right here on EF Country.
My Sleeping Heart is a collaboration with musical director Thomas Dibb, also from Rotherham, and it was inspired by a conversation with a broken-hearted man sat at the bar in Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge in Nashville.
“I understood where this man was coming from. He had been carrying the hurt from a past love for a long time and was finally making peace with it. As soon as I got back to the room, I picked up the guitar and started writing My Sleeping Heart,” explains Lauren.
The track is taken from Housley’s upcoming EP, set for release in the autumn. In 2017 Housley and her band travelled to Nashville for the Americana Music Festival and they found plenty of inspiration from their time in Music City.
My Sleeping Heart will be supported with Housley’s biggest live shows to date in June and July. She’ll be joined on the jaunt by Dibb (Guitar, Vocals), co-producer Mark Lewis (Bass, Vocals), Xavier Winton (Drums) and Billy Bragg’s trusty sideman C.J. Hillman (Pedal Steel, Guitar).
You can see them at the following dates:
22nd – 24th June, Tunbridge Wells, Black Deer Festival
3rd July – Manchester, Night and Day Cafe
4th July – London, The Lexington
5th July – Sheffield, The Greystone’s
