‘Neighbours’ has taken viewers on quite the emotional rollercoaster since it returned on Amazon Freevee earlier this year. One of the biggest shocks was the reveal that Terese (Rebekah Elmaloglou) and Toadie (Ryan Moloney) were married!

Since then, the relationship between the two has been tested numerous times thanks to Nell’s (Ayisha Salem-Towner) refusal to accept Terese into the family. Just as everything seemed to be settling down, the unwelcome return of Melanie (Lucinda Cowden) in the midst of Krista Sinclair’s (Majella Davis) apparent death threw another spanner into the works.
Initially Melanie thought she’d accidentally killed Krista two years earlier, and after getting help from Paul Robinson (Stefan Dennis) to cover it up, along with Aaron (Matt Wilson), David (Takaya Honda) and Nicolette (Hannah Monson), Melanie fled from Erinsborough leaving her new husband Toadie and his kids behind.
Viewers now know that Krista isn’t actually dead and it’s been revealed that she’s pregnant with Eden’s (Costa D’Angelo) baby, which isn’t common knowledge yet. Melanie’s brief stint in prison for Krista’s murder came to an end and she’s now living with Karl (Alan Fletcher) and Susan (Jackie Woodburne), which is causing Toadie no end of problems. The unusual living arrangement was organised by Terese, who is desperately trying to stay in Nell’s good books.
The initial frostiness between Melanie and Toadie and Terese has thawed a bit, and this past week viewers saw Paul trying to convince Melanie to help him break Toadie and Terese up. This occurred when Melanie discovered that Paul had bribed a council man in order to help Terese and Jane’s (Annie Jones) bid to save Erinsborough High passed. Melanie decided to come clean to Toadie and Terese about what she knew so does that mean she’s going to let them live happily ever after?
We highly doubt it as it’s clear that Melanie has unresolved feelings for Toadie, and her continuing closeness with Nell is only going to continue to cause more problems. Add to that Paul’s determination to win back Terese after telling her that he was still in love with her and this love quadrangle has some distance to go yet.
So far, Terese is pushing back against Paul hard, enraged that he’s continuing to meddle in his life but Paul believes the two are ‘cut from the same cloth’. Things have got to come to a head at some point between the four characters and somehow we don’t see a happy ending in the future for Toadie and Terese.
