‘Neighbours’: 5 big questions we’re asking after that HUGE Krista Sinclair twist

‘Neighbours’ has found a new life on Amazon Freevee and honestly, the long-running soap may be producing some of the best storylines we’ve seen in years.

If you want to avoid all spoilers, stop reading this article now.

Following last week’s Flashback Week, which saw Melanie (Lucinda Cowan) return in dramatic fashion, viewers found out just why the character walked out on husband Toadie (Ryan Moloney) and his kids. It turns out that she was being blackmailed by Krista Sinclair (Majella Davis) and her boyfriend Eden (Costa D’Angelo), that was until she got into an altercation with Krista and accidentally killed her… or so she thought.

Dragging Paul (Stefan Robinson), Aaron (Matt Wilson), David (Takaya Honda) and Nicolette (Hannah Monson) into her mess, Melanie decided to flee Erinsborough but Toadie’s daughter Nell (Ayisha Salem-Towner) tracked her down and was attacked by Eden in the process.

All wasn’t quite what it seemed though. No sooner had Mel returned to Erinsborough to face the music and turn herself in to the police, much to Toadie and Terese’s (Rebekah Elmaloglou) despair that she was back in their lives, it turned out that Holly (Lucinda Armstrong-Hall) had been living it up with Eden and Krista, unaware that Krista was Reese’s (Mischa Barton) missing sister.

With the help of Haz (Shiv Palekar), Holly found the elusive Eden and discovered that Krista was alive and well. Now that we know that Krista is alive, we’ve got 5 big questions to ask!

1. What does this mean for Toadie and Terese?

We don’t expect that Toadie and Terese’s honeymoon period is going to last long. Toadie was angry with Mel believing she’d murdered someone while Terese believed that Paul had helped cover the murder up. With Krista alive, that means neither Mel or Paul actually did anything wrong (even though their behaviour is morally questionable). We know that Mel only left Toadie because of what she thought she’d done and that Paul is still in love with Terese. Things are about to get seriously complicated.

2. Where has Krista been hiding for two years?

Yes, we know she was with Eden but how has she managed to keep such a low profile for two years? Obviously Reece has been looking for her sister but was no one else concerned for that entire time? When Holly found Krista in the basement of a house, she didn’t look to be in good health so we assume she’s still hooked on drugs. Does Eden have something over her?

3. Will Aaron, David and Nicolette all move back to Ramsay Street?

This one feels like a given doesn’t it? Aaron and Nicolette are both keen to return home but David is less enthusiastic given his disdain for his father Paul. Refusing to be dragged back into his father’s orbit, David is showing no sign of changing his mind but can you really believe they’ve brought these three characters back only for them to leave again? We can’t and we’d love to have them back. After all, they only left after being dragged into Mel’s mess, and that’s in the process of being sorted isn’t it?

4. Will Mel also return to Ramsay Street permanently?

Given she’s not actually murdered anyone, it seems likely that Mel will be sticking around too. Not only will that cause problems for Toadie and Terese, it’s going to make matters with Nell worse after she struggled to accept Terese. If David’s staying put, then it makes sense for his former business partner to stay too doesn’t it? There’s going to be fireworks.

5. What does the future hold for Reece?

The mystery around Reece arriving in Erinsborough has been one of the show’s big plots since it returned. Now she’s found her sister (and judging from trailers she’s going to have to work hard to rebuild her relationship with her), is there any reason for Reece to stick around? Her relationship with Byron (Xavier Molyneux) anchors her to the show but is that enough? We don’t know about you but we’ve quite liked Reece. Any character that winds up Paul is worth keeping in our book.
