Alicia Keys’ debuts ‘Lifeline’ from ‘The Color Purple’ soundtrack

Alicia Keys has dropped the video for new single ‘Lifeline’, the first song released from the soundtrack for ‘The Color Purple’.

Keys wrote the song inspired by the filmā€™s rich storytelling and co-produced it with partners Tricky Stewart (BeyoncĆ© and Rihanna), Marshmello (Selena Gomez, Juice Wrld) and TMS (Dua Lipa, Lewis Capaldi). The video was directed by Diane Martel (Miley Cyrus, Mariah Carey), who is Keys’ creative director.

Keys recently included the song during an impromptu performance at Londonā€™sĀ St.Ā PancrasĀ Station and as part of her live set at Capital FMā€™sĀ Jingle BellĀ BallĀ at the O2 Arena. Additionally, she performed the song on the stage of NYCā€™s iconicĀ WebsterĀ HallĀ for theĀ ‘Diary of Alicia Keys: One Night Only’Ā show.

Keys is joined on the soundtrack by an incomparable array of music luminaries, includingĀ H.E.R., USHER, Megan Thee Stallion, Jennifer Hudson, Mary J. Blige, Fantasia, Missy Elliott,Ā Halle Bailey, Keyshia Cole, Coco Jones, Taraji P. Henson, Timbaland, Jorja Smith, The-Dream,Ā Celeste, Mary Mary, Darkchild, October London and more.Ā 

The score for the film, composed by Kris Bowers, will be released on December 25th.
