5 P!nk album tracks that really showcase her voice

P!nk released her latest album ‘Trustfall‘ last Friday and the collection is currently outselling its nearest competitor 2:1 in the race for the number album this week.

The singer-songwriter, whose real name is Alecia Moore, has built a solid fanbase for herself around the world but here in the UK, she’s easily one of the biggest pop stars of the last two decades. It seems we can’t get enough of her and she’ll be back for live shows this summer!

While everyone knows that P!nk is an incredible performer with an array of hits to her name, some of her album tracks that really showcase her fantastic voice may have gone unnoticed. I’ve picked out five from across her career that never fail to leave me with my jaw on the floor…

1
‘Stop Falling’

P!nk’s short-lived R&B phase is still one of my favourite eras for her and at the time, the sound was very on point in terms of what was topping the charts. While ‘There You Go’, ‘Most Girls’ and ‘You Make Me Sick’ all featured slick R&B production, none of them truly showed off what P!nk could do as a vocalist. ‘Stop Falling’ is a true showcase for the singer’s range and abilities, and it remains one of her best recorded vocals.

2
‘Catch Me While I’m Sleeping’

2003’s ‘Try This’ is perhaps P!nk’s most under-rated album thanks to following the hugely successful ‘M!ssundaztood’. Generally a rockier set than anything she’d released at this point, the album had some cracking songs including this bluesy pop ballad ‘Catch Me While I’m Sleeping’. With tone for days, P!nk’s husky voice sounds incredible here.

3
‘Dear Mr. President’ (feat. Indigo Girls)

Never one to hide her opinions, P!nk made her first real political statement on ‘Dear Mr. President’ featuring Indigo Girls. The acoustic ballad was a direct attack on then US President George W. Bush and it featured on 2006’s “I’m Not Dead”. The song was a favourite during P!nk’s live shows and it set in motion the platform that P!nk has used to campaign against injustice.

4
‘Glitter in the Air’

This beautiful piano ballad did kind of get its moment in the sun thanks to some stunning live performances but ‘Glitter in the Air’ is one of the best songs on 2008’s ‘Funhouse’ that was never released as a single. Something about P!nk singing with sparse piano just clicks and her voice sounds absolutely wonderful here.

5
‘I Am Here’

Taken from her 2017 album ‘Beautiful Trauma’ this folky Lumineers-like track is seriously underrated. Infusing a bit of gospel and P!nk’s soaring vocals, the life-affirming song is about climbing back up from the depths of despair and surviving the hardest of times. She’s always been one to lift up her fans, and this track is the perfect pick yourself back up anthem.
