Stereophonics: a definitive Top 10 of their finest songs

1. ‘Dakota’ (from ‘Language, Sex, Violence, Other’ 2005)

Even after seventeen years, ‘Dakota’ is still the best Stereophonics song, from the opening riff through the tale of nostalgic love, until the final explosion of music.  There’s a reason live shows end with this song (which doesn’t actually mention Dakota anywhere). It also marks a  turning point in music-buying; buyers were moving online to source their music post-2005, which is one of the likely reasons the band haven’t had other number one singles.  Music fans buy the albums, not just the singles, and rack up the Gold and Platinum certifications.
