Clara Bond has released new single ‘Wish You Were Her’.
The follow-up to ‘Backtalker’, which kicked off a new era of music from the singer, ‘Wish You Were Her’ is available to download and stream now.
The song sees Clara once again experimenting with her sound as she collaborates with producer Chris Tilke.
āWe wrote the whole EP in lockdown. We were just writing songs that felt good for us at a time when it was crucial to write songs only for my benefit, because it was what I needed at the time. Itās nice to now be releasing them, but that almost wasnāt the intention at the time – the songs were a way for me to connect to my own musicality when there was absolutely nothing going on in the world – except watching ‘Friends’.Ā
They really feel like an honest reflection of what was going on in my brain at the time.ā
Of the track, Bond shares, āAs far as the meaning behind the song goes, itās pretty self-explanatory. Weāre at an age where everyone has a past. You get that, because everyone does, but you donāt want to hear about it all the time or have it shoved in your face.Ā
You go to a park, or you do something for the first time for you, but they might mention that theyāve done it with their ex. Itās all fine, but youāre like āok, but can you pretend Iām the most exciting thing thatās on your mind right now.āĀ
