Now Apocalypse 1×02 Where is My Mind? recap

Now Apocalypse episode 2

Following the strange and somewhat disturbing ending to the first episode of Now Apocalypse, the second episode veered away from the weird and concentrated on sex instead.

Uly (Avan Jogia) was shaken up by his experience, particularly as he didn’t know if what had happened was real or in his head. He returned home to Ford (Beau Mirchoff) working out in his underpants and blowing off steam following an incident with Severine (Roxane Mesquida) while they were having sex. Uly went to his room and started to research giant lizards, which led him to a conspiracy theory that there are such things as alien lizards masquerading as humans.

The next day he shared his findings with Carly (Kelli Berglund) who suggested that maybe he needed to lay off the drugs. With lizards still on his mind, Uly started a new job working security and obsessed over why Gabriel (Tyler Posey) was ghosting him. That was interrupted when he heard strange noises coming from a car in the place he was working. Investigating, Uly opened a car door and whatever he saw led him to scream.

Now Apocalypse episode 2

Ford was taken to a swanky party by Barnabus (Kevin Daniels), who told him he loved his script. He was introduced to a director and just when it looked like he was going to be hit on by both men, Ford made his excuses and went to see Severine. When he got to her apartment he was surprised to find that she’d organised for a friend to come over so she could watch them have sex.

Initially nervous about the idea, Ford went through with it while Severine pleasured herself as she watched them. Once the sex ended, Severine’s friend left and Ford and Severine cuddled up on her sofa basking in the afterglow of their new-found polyamory.

Meanwhile Carly went to an acting class where she couldn’t help but show her emotions on her face leading to the teacher (Mary Lynn Rajskub) to corner her in the bathroom. The two had a quick conversation and was it just me or did it look like Carly’s acting teacher was a little more interested in her than just as a student?

After meeting Uly and casually revealing her job as a sex cam girl, Carly had what she thought was going to be another disappointing hook-up with Jethro (Desmond Chiam). She got annoyed while they were having sex because he kept looking at his phone and he was upset that she was using a vibrator. Getting out of bed to get another condom, Jethro discovered Carly’s box of sex toys and was upset by what he found.

Now Apocalypse episode 2

Carly didn’t come clean about her source of income and what she uses the toys for but without trying she got Jethro intrigued about S&M. Picking up a paddle, she spanked him and quickly got carried away resulting in him collapsing on the floor in tears. That unexpectedly led to satisfying sex and it looks like the two might have found intimacy that works for both of them.

The episode fleshed out Carly and Ford a lot more than it did in the first one but there’s still a big question mark over what on earth is going on with Uly. Severine remains the most under-developed character but the show is wacky, and intriguing, enough to keep watching.
