Madlib and Akil the MC release 1776 in celebration of Black History Month

Two hip hop titans, Madlib and Akil the MC have joined forces to create Madkil and they have just dropped the track 1776 part 1.

The track has been released in memory of the assassination of Malcolm X and to remember all those who fell as part of the African Liberation Movement.

It’s a powerful track and might not be easy listening for everyone depending on your views. I for one think they are bang on the money and this is the sort of topic rap music should be covering.  The song charts the history of racial oppression in the US but can easily be applied worldwide. It speaks of the hypocrisy of modern-day ‘equality’  and I guess how some people are still more equal than others.
