The first official trailer has arrived for Steve McQueen’s Widows and it promises to be a jaw-dropping action-packed thriller.
Based on the book of the same name by Lynda La Plante, Widows is directed by Steve McQueen (12 Years a Slave), who co-wrote the screenplay with Gillian Flynn (Gone Girl). Widows features an all-star cast including Viola Davis (How to Get Away With Murder), Elizabeth Debicki (The Great Gatsby), Michelle Rodriguez (Girlfight), Cynthia Erivo (Mr Selfridge), Liam Neeson (Taken), Colin Farrell (The Beguiled), Robert Duvall (The Godfather), Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out) and Brian Tyree Henry (Atlanta).

The synopsis for Widows is:
Widows is the story of four women with nothing in common except a debt left behind by their dead husbands’ criminal activities. Set in contemporary Chicago, amid a time of turmoil, tensions build when Veronica (Davis), Alice (Debicki), Linda (Rodriguez) and Belle (Erivo) take their fate into their own hands and conspire to forge a future on their own terms.
In the trailer the set-up of a heist gone wrong plays out followed by scenes of the movie’s central women finding out that their husbands have left them in a dangerous situation. It’s Davis’ Veronica that pulls the group together and convinces them they can pull off the impossible by taking on their husband’s work.
With explosions, drama and plenty of fantastic actors, Widow looks set to be an attention-grabbing film that you won’t want to miss.
Widows arrives in UK cinemas on 9th November 2018.
