As John Cena promised yesterday, the teaser trailer for new Transformers Universe movie Bumblebee has arrived.

The trailer sees Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld) discover Bumblee in a junkyard and take it back to her garage. As she takes a closer look at the car, she’s surprised when it transforms and she discovers her new find is much more than an abandoned vehicle.

She also discovers he has an aversion to Rick Astley (we’re not Rick Rolling you we promise) as she tries to introduce Bumblebee to the joys of music.

The trailer also shows a selection of high-octane action sequences that promise explosions, fights and of course John Cena as Agent Burns. The official synopsis for Bumblebee is:

On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie, on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.

Alongside the trailer, video messages have been released from director Travis Knight and star Steinfeld. Knight shares his love of the Transformers franchise by saying, “When I was a kid I spent hours playing with Transformers toys and making up stories about these amazing characters so it’s been incredible to come to set every day and tell this story, exploring who Bumblebee is and why we love him.”

Steinfeld’s video acts as an introduction to the trailer. She says, “I’m so excited to show you the very first trailer for my new movie Bumblebee. We had the best time making this movie and I’m so excited for you guys to see it in theatres this Christmas!”

Bumblebee arrives in cinemas in the UK this Christmas.
