Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19 renewed for season 2

It looks like we’re going to be spending a lot more time with Seattle’s firefighters as Grey’s Anatomy spin-off Station 19 has been renewed for season 2.

The series, which launched during the 14th season of Grey’s Anatomy, saw Ben Warren (Jason George) leaving his scrubs behind and train to be a firefighter. The 10-episode first season, which is airing now, is due to end its debut run in the US this week.

The first season of Station 19 has seen Andy Herrera (Jaina Lee Ortiz) and her on/off boyfriend Jack (Grey Damon) sharing the responsibility of captain after Andy’s father Pruitt (Miguel Sandoval) had to step down due to a health battle.

Station 19 stars Jaina Lee Ortiz, Jason George, Grey Damon, Barrett Doss, Alberto Frezza, Jay Hayden, Okieriete Onaodowan, Danielle Savre and Miguel Sandoval. Guest stars over the course of the season have included Ellen Pompeo, Chandra Wilson, Leslie Hope and Brett Tucker.

The spin-off was created by Stacy McKee and has been part of the TGIT line-up in the US. For ABC, it’s US home, Station 19 has been the third most-watched drama series on the network behind The Good Doctor and Grey’s Anatomy.

It was recently announced that Grey’s Anatomy would be returning for season 15, reaching yet another milestone for the long-running medical drama.

Station 19 airs on ABC in the US and Sky Living HD in the UK.
