The circumstances leading up to Abby’s (Paula Malcomson) were made a little clearer during the latest episode of Ray Donovan.
A flashback showed Ray (Liev Schrieber) and Abby travelling to Las Vegas for their 21st anniversary. Along the way they had to sort out a mess for Terry (Eddie Marsan) who’d had a ring stolen by a hooker, which he had been planning to propose to Maureen (Tara Buck) with.
Abby embraced her darker side and helped Ray retrieve the ring before they went to see Damon’s (Dominique Columbus) first televised boxing match. Terry proposed to Maureen, who accepted, but things took a turn for the worse when Abby had a fit in her hotel room. A hospital appointment confirmed that her cancer was back.
It was also revealed that Ray bought Abby a bar for her anniversary present after she’d expressed the desire to own somewhere the family could spend time together.
In the present day Terry and Maureen got married, much to the dismay of her brother, and Ray was dragged into Natalie James’ (Lili Simmons) personal drama when she hired him to help her get away from her abusive boyfriend.
The next episode of the season is Dogwalker. Ray is forced to clean up Natalie’s mess. Mickey’s scriptwriting career is threatened by a visit from an old acquaintance.
