The CW’s buzzworthy new teen drama series Riverdale will be back for season 2 it has been confirmed.
The renewal comes as the show is half way through its first season, which revolves around the murder of a high school student. The live ratings for the show have been disappointing in the US but once DVR and Live+7 ratings are added in, the show gets a massive boost.
Riverdale is shown in the UK on Netflix, where the episodes arrive on a Friday following the US transmission the night before. The cast features K.J. Apa, Lili Reinhart, Camila Mendes, Cole Sprouse, Marisol Nichols, Madchen Amick, Skeet Ulrich and Luke Perry.
The show is the first new CW show to get a renewal and it joins returning shows The Flash, Arrow, Legends of Tomorrow, Supergirl, Crazy Ex-Girlfriend and Jane the Virgin.
Riverdale is based on the characters from the Archie Comics. It was brought to the small screen by Warner Bros. Television and CBS Television Studios in association with Berlanti Productions.
