Randall (Sterling K. Brown) made a trip to the family cabin with Kate (Chrissy Metz) and Kevin (Justin Hartley) while he dealt with the fallout of his mother’s lies on the latest episode of This Is Us.
After discovering that Rebecca (Mandy Moore) had known William (Ron Cephas Jones) his entire life, Randall had more of a trip than he was expecting when he drank a drink that was laced with drugs. As he began tripping, Randall had a vision of Jack (Milo Ventimiglia) and used the time to work through the issues with his mother’s deceit.
Meanwhile Kevin invited Olivia (Janet Montgomery) to the cabin and she arrived with her ex-boyfriend and playwright Sloane (Milana Vayntrub). Kate and Olivia butted heads and Kevin eventually asked her to leave when she was got a bit too cosy with her ex-boyfriend in front of him. Kevin’s reaction to Olivia’s behaviour was to sleep with Sloane.
Kate continued to try and be friends with Toby (Chris Sullivan) following their break up but he wasn’t so keen. Once the siblings returned home, Randall told his mother that he understood that keeping her secret must have been hard but told her he couldn’t speak to her again until Christmas.
In the past storyline Randall tried to find out who his birth parents were much to the dismay of Rebecca.
The next episode of the season is Last Christmas. The Pearsons run into Dr K and realise he needs their support. Kevin celebrates Hanukkah with Sloane and her family. Kate continues to pursue her surgery ambitions.
