The 60th BFI London Film Festival starts tonight with A United Kingdom

The 60th BFI London Film Festival begins tonight in London’s Leicester Square. The festival kicks off with the European premiere of Amma Asante’s enduring love story, A United Kingdom, with Amma Asante, David Oyelowo, Rosamund Pike, Laura Carmichael, Jack Davenport, Arnold Oceng and James Northcote all expected to attend.

The festival had landed some incredible movies to celebrate its 60th anniversary. The BFI London Film Festival takes place from Wednesday 5th October to Sunday 16th October 2016 across multiple venues in the capital.

Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone will shimmer in Damien Chazelle’s La La Land, the festivals Headline Gala, while the Festival closes with Ben Wheatley’s Free Fire.

Other Gala screenings include Arrival starring Amy Adams, Nate Parker’s The Birth of a Nation, Manchester by the Sea with Casey Affleck, Michelle Williams and Kyle Chandler and Oliver Stone’s Snowden with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Scott Eastwood, Shailene Woodley and Nicolas Cage.

Other highlights include Their Finest with Gemma Arterton, Sam Claflin and Bill Nighy, A Monster Calls with Felicity Jones, Toby Kebbell and Liam Neeson, Queen of Katwe with Lupita Nyong’o and David Oyelowo and Lion starring Rooney Mara, Dev Patel and Nicole Kidman.

Tom Ford’s Nocturnal Animals is at the BFI London Film Festival starring Amy Adams, Isla Fisher and Jake Gyllenhaal. Andrea Arnold’s American Honey starring Sasha Lane, Shia LaBeouf and Riley Keough and Ava DuVernay’s documentary on the US prison system, The 13th, will also be screened.

Also playing at the festival will be Xavier Dolan’s It’s Only the End of the World starring Vincent Cassel, Marion Cotillard and Nathalie Baye, Paul Verhoeven’s Elle and Paris terror drama Nocturama.

Alice Lowe’s Prevenge stars Jo Hartley, Kate Dickie and Gemma Whelan and will be at the festival along with Christopher Guest’s Mascots which stars Chris O’Dowd, Tom Bennett, Jennifer Coolidge, Parker Posey and Sandra Rosko.

Antonio Campos directs the story of 1970s TV reporter Christine Chubbuck in Christine, starring Rebecca Hall. Olivier Assayas’ Personal Shopper stars Kristen Stewart, Lars Eidinger and Sigrid Bouaziz and Cristian Mungiu’s Graduation stars Adrian Titieni, Maria-Victoria Dragus, Rares Andrici have been announced for the LFF.

Bleed for This stars Miles Teller, Katey Sagal and Aaron Eckhart and is the Thrill Gala at the LFF. The Handmaiden starring Min-hee Kim, Kim Tae-ri and Jung-woo Ha is the Dare Gala.

Steve McQueen will receive the BFI Fellowship at LFF Awards Ceremony.
