Pretty Little Liars 7×03 The Talented Mr. Rollins recap

Rogue liar

Emily (Shay Mitchell) was the most concerned of all the liars about Aliā€™s treatment this week. She asked Spencer (Troian Bellisario) to enlist Tobyā€™s (Keegan Allen) help in establishing a link between Dr. Rollins (Huw Collins) and Mary Drake (Andrea Parker) but Spencer decided not to bring him into the situation after bumping into Yvonne (Kara Royster) at Tobyā€™s trailer. Using the excuse that Toby and Yvonne had just got engaged, Spencer told her friends she wasnā€™t involving him but Emily stole the file on Mary from Spencerā€™s bag and delivered it to Toby herself.

Cat and mouse

The liars banded together to try and get Ali released from hospital after realising that Emily might be right about Dr. Rollinsā€™ questionable bedside manner. Their first attempt was to complain to Dr. Rollinsā€™ boss but that got them nowhere when Dr. Rollins arrived with Aliā€™s medical file that supported his treatment of her.

Aria (Lucy Hale) went into Aliā€™s house to find out what Dr. Rollins was keeping in the chest at the end of his bed and she found lots of different drugs and equipment. She photographed them all and just got out of the house before she was caught. Before she left she placed the key in the wrong lampshade, which Dr. Rollins found and suspected someone had been in the house.

The PLLs took their time to study Ariaā€™s photos and they realised that Dr. Rollins had the equipment to make latex and that he was administering drugs to Ali to make her think she was crazy. Aria and Hanna meanwhile went to the Amish B&B that Dr. Rollins claimed his family owned a farm near. Their investigation led them to a little girl who had dolls of the PLLs and told them she knew Charlotte (Vanessa Ray). The girl also confirmed that Charlotte was in a relationship with Dr. Rollins. On their way out of the town, Hanna suffered a PTSD episode when she saw a cattle prod similar to the one used to torture her.

Meanwhile at the hospital Ali attempted to attack Dr. Rollins and escape but she failed. Her next move was to pretend to sleep as he transported her somewhere. Using Dr. Rollinsā€™ phone to alert the PLLs to her location, Ali stayed ā€˜asleepā€™ until Dr. Rollins stopped the car. She attacked him, escaped from the car and ran away. With the PLLs close behind, Ali ran in front of their car and Hanna failed to stop the car before it hit, and seemingly killed, Dr. Rollins.

The end of the road?

Spencer continued to have doubts about her relationship with Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) and she was thrown into turmoil when he admitted to having kissed Hanna the night of her disappearance. Trying to pass it off as a mistake, Caleb tried to win Spencer back but she told him she didnā€™t think that things would work out for them. A conversation with Hanna about the kiss did nothing to ease her concerns either.

Love is in the air?

As one relationship seemed to be coming to an end, another looked set to begin with Emily plucking up the courage to ask Sabrina (Lulu Brud) out. At first Sabrina turned her advance down pointing out that Emilyā€™s past lies meant that she wasnā€™t sure she could trust her. Later as Emily started her first shift at The Radley, Sabrina arrived for dinner with a female companion. Sabrina found an excuse to talk to Emily and confirmed the woman she was with wasnā€™t her girlfriend. She also admitted she had acted in haste when Emily asked her out and told her sheā€™d changed her mind and would like to go for dinner.
