Ward Thomas to release major label debut in September

Homegrown country duo Ward Thomas – 22 year old twins Lizzy and Catherine – will release their second album Cartwheels on 9th September 2016 it has been announced.

The record will be the follow-up to the self-released 2014 debut album From Where We Stand and will be the duo’s first on a major label, Sony Music/WTW Music. The lead track from the record is Carry You Home, which takes Ward Thomas in a poppier direction than their previous material and is released on 8th July 2016.

Cartwheels was recorded in London and the title track was the first song the girls wrote for the album.

ā€˜It established our new soundā€™, says Lizzy. ā€˜Lyrically it was much more grown up than anything on our debut. Sonically it was a move away from country to lots of other influences we grew up with-Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles, KT Tunstall and Taylor Swiftā€™s Red album. We are still influenced by country, we still adore the Dixie Chicks and Kacey Musgraves but this isnā€™t just a country albumā€™.

The album is produced largely by Martin Terefe (KT Tunstall, Jason Mraz, Shawn Mendes) with three tracks by Jimmy Hogarth (Amy Winehouse, Paolo Nutini, Sia). Cartwheels features 14 self-penned tracks that capture a range of emotions.
