Outcast arrived in the UK this week and by the end of the first hour it seems that the latest Robert Kirkman adaptation is even darker than The Walking Dead.
Following the story of recluse Kyle (Patrick Fugit), a man who has been plagued by possession his entire life – first his mother, then his wife – Outcast is a classic tale of good versus evil. Kyle was drawn out of his deep depression to help Reverend Anderson (Philip Glenister) who was dealing with the possession of a young boy.
Getting involved with the Reverend and the possessed boy brought back memories for Kyle and plenty of violence and disturbing scenes followed as the pair tried to help the boy. In the end Kyle fed the boy his blood which seemed to put a stop to the possession.
The next episode of the season is (I Remember) When She Loved Me. Kyle questions his family history, while Reverend Anderson tries to prepare the town against the surge of evil he suspects is coming.
