Pretty Little Liars 6×18 Burn This recap

The Liars learned this week on Pretty Little Liars that A isnā€™t messing around and that their lives may really be in danger.

If you havenā€™t seen the latest episode of Pretty Little Liars and donā€™t want to read any spoilers we suggest you stop reading now. If you have seen it and want to relive all of the action then keep reading.

Once upon a Spoby

Tensions in the Hastings household were pretty epic on this weekā€™s episode. Spencerā€™s (Troian Bellisario) father (Nolan North) was back in Rosewood and forbidding his daughter to have anything to do with Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) following Tobyā€™s (Keegan Allen) decision to speak out about the Hastings family to protect Yvonne (Kara Royster). Spencer of course didnā€™t listen and a tense exchange with Toby, which Caleb walked into, winded up with Caleb being punched in the face.

Spencer had pleaded with Caleb to come clean about the leak but he refused to tell Toby the truth. After much soul-searching, and thinking about where her relationship with Toby went wrong (turns out they had a pregnancy scare while Spencer was in college), Spencer came clean and told Toby that A was back.

The unusual suspects

Aria (Lucy Hale) was back in Tannerā€™s (Roma Maffia) crosshairs this week as the surly police detective asked her to participate in a line-up. Apparently an eyewitness described someone that looked just like Aria at the diner the night of Charlotteā€™s (Vanessa Ray) murder. During the line-up Aria wasnā€™t selected and she caught sight of the eyewitness who looked a lot like Sara Harvey (Dre Davis). Determined to confirm the witness was Sara, Aria confronted Tanner and craftily knocked over a cup of coffee so she could read the witness statement. Turns out the person who was seen at the diner did sound a lot like Aria but they had pink dice hanging from their car keys.

Burn after reading

Hanna (Ashley Benson) was rattled ahead of her bridal shower when she discovered that Ashley (Laura Leighton) had invited Caleb to stay in her guest room after being thrown out by the Hastings. Hanna used her discontent to accuse her mother of not liking Jordan (David Coussins) and created a poor atmosphere for the shower. Things went from bad to worse when Hanna spoke to no one other than Emily (Shay Mitchell) and Aria, and was less than pleased with the arrival of Mona (Janel Parrish), who was very sheepish after being accused of leaking the information about Yvonne by Spencer (turns out Mona was fired from the opposition campaign!).

Mona came armed with a gift and Ashley tried to salvage the shower but alas it wasnā€™t meant to be. As Hanna tried to manage Lucasā€™ (Brendan Robinson) flashy but complicated set-up via her tablet, the lights went out and Aria was almost roasted alive when the fireplace erupted.

Romantic fiction

Prior to her fire related injury, Aria found out that Ezra (Ian Harding) had pitched her as co-writer for his book. Still worried that her job could be on the line, Aria wondered what Ezraā€™s motivation was for trying to help her. She told Liam (Roberto Aguire) the news and it was he that confirmed their boss had given the greenlight to the collaboration when he visited Aria in hospital. The good news was delivered at an awkward time as a worried Ezra sat by Ariaā€™s bedside keeping her company while she recovered. A also chose Aria’s hospital stay to inform the Liars that he/she was serious about their threats following the Liars’ discovery that A was at the Montgomery wedding taking photos. Speaking of weddings Ali (Sasha Pieterse) decided to elope with Dr. Rollins (Huw Collins) after turning up on Aria’s doorstep last week.

Mystery machine

Emily tracked down the garage that was hiding the SUV that tried to mow her down. She attempted to find out who the owner was and confirmed that it wasnā€™t Melissa (Torrey DeVitto). Does that mean Melissa is off the hook? Spencerā€™s father confirmed that Melissa only returned to Rosewood because someone was blackmailing her over her video confession of burying Bethany. Melissa paid the person off prior to Charlotteā€™s murder.

After getting nowhere with the garage owners, Emily did some more detective work of her own and discovered that it could have been Mona that called Charlotte the night of her death after noticing the pink dice dangling from her keys. Mona told her that she couldnā€™t talk to her about it in the open. What is she hiding?
