Scream Queens renewed for season 2

Scream Queens will be back later this year for a second season it has been announced.

TV Line reports that the show renewal was announced yesterday during the TCA Winter Tour. Ryan Murphy’s campy horror comedy struggled in the ratings but it found an audience online and through DVR.

Despite rumours that Scream Queens would follow the American Horror Story formula and cast the same actors in different roles each season, it was confirmed that some of the first season cast will reprise their characters for the new season. At this stage no actors have been announced for the show.

With the renewal announcement came the news that the second season will be set in a hospital.

ā€œItā€™s going to take place in a hospital and explore some of the most interesting medical fascinomas,ā€ said Fox boss Gary Newman. ā€œThis is something Ryan Murphy loves and had a lot of fun with on Nip/Tuck, and he, Brad (Falchuk) and Ian (Brennan) are going to infuse that sensibility on Scream Queens. ā€

Scream Queens will air its first season finale in the UK Monday night on E4. The season starred Emma Roberts, Lea Michele, Jamie Lee Curtis, Abigail Breslin, Keke Palmer, Oliver Hudson, Diego Boneta and Nick Jonas.
