Bridge of Spies & Carol dominate BAFTA nominations

The EE British Academy Film Awards nominations have been announced today.

Bridge of Spies and Carol have each picked up nine nominations closely followed by The Revenant with 8 nominations and Mad Max: Fury Road with seven nominations. Brooklyn and The Martian each picked up six nominations.

The hotly tipped The Danish Girl, which is in cinemas now, picked up five nominations as did sci-fi thriller Ex-Machina. 2015’s biggest film Star Wars: The Force Awakens picked up four nominations across the categories.

The EE British Academy Film Awards take place on Sunday 14 February at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London. The ceremony will be hosted by Stephen Fry and will be broadcast exclusively on BBC One and BBC One HD, preceded by a red carpet show on BBC Three.
