Blackrock Mountain: A Hearthstone Adventure announced

Blizzard have revealed the second adventure expansion for Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft. This time players will be able to take on the challenges of Blackrock Mountain.

The Blackrock Mountain Adventure thrusts Hearthstone players into the middle of a war between powerful forces battling for control of the mountain. There, duelists will encounter fierce minions, including Dark Iron dwarves, fire elementals, and dragons, before facing off against iconic menaces from the Warcraft universe, such as Ragnaros, the Firelord from Molten Core and Nefarian from Black Wing Lair. Card-slingers who take down these villains will reap a mighty reward—31 scorching new cards inspired by the legendary mountain and its denizens, bringing a wealth of new tactical options to the ever-evolving Hearthstone metagame.

Coming this April to PC, Windows and Android tablets, and iPad, Blackrock Mountain will open up one wing per week over the course of a month. As with the game’s first Adventure, Curse of Naxxramas, it will be accessible for either 700 in-game gold per wing or £4.99 per wing, with the entire Adventure purchasable for £14.99. Further details, including specific launch timing, will be announced in the weeks ahead. Preorders (real money only) for Blackrock Mountain will be available starting March 19th, and will include an exclusive card back to those duelists ready to take on what lies within the mountain when it opens.

GAME MODES

Play Mode: Duel other players to level up your Heroes and complete quests along the way. Whether you’re a grizzled veteran, curious newcomer, or fall somewhere in between, Battle.net matchmaking will pair you up against a worthy opponent. You also have the chance to earn exclusive card backs each month to customize your deck in Ranked Play.

The Arena: Put your skills to the test in this mode where deck-building is half the fun. Pick between three different, randomly selected Heroes, then assemble a new deck by choosing from a selection of randomized cards. Once 30 cards have been selected, it’s time to roll up your sleeves and head to the Arena where players duel other participants for a chance to win rewards. After winning 12 matches, or losing 3, you will unlock a chest of loot based on how well you did.

Solo Adventures: With Adventures, players go toe-to-toe with computer-controlled opponents to earn unique Adventure-specific cards. Hearthstone’s first Adventure, Curse of Naxxramas, was released in July and paired players against a variety of spooky bosses. If you’re not quite ready to set out on an Adventure, Practice Mode offers a chance to polish abilities and try out new deck ideas against basic or expert AI opponents.

KEY FEATURES

Collection Manager: Browse your ever-expanding card collection, disenchant cards for raw materials to craft new ones, and build a variety of custom decks to suit your shifting strategies.

Quests: Players can immerse themselves in daily quests that will reward them with gold when completed. Gold can be used to purchase more card packs or gain entry into the Arena.

Crafting: Disenchant those extra cards in your collection to receive Arcane Dust, the material used to construct Hearthstone cards. You can then use this dust to craft cards to complete your decks or fill out your overall collection.

Friendly Duels: Want to challenge your buddy to a quick match (or just show off your shiny new cards)? Hearthstone is connected to Battle.net, so you’ll be able to fire up a game with a friend right from your friends list.

Cross-Platform Compatibility: Hearthstone is playable on Windows PC, Mac, as well as on iPads and Android Tablet devices. You only need one account to access your collection manager and get to slinging cards!

Spectator Mode: This feature will allow for players to watch their friend’s Hearthstone games in real time, or invite friends to watch theirs!
