Olivia (Kerry Washington) returned to Washington D.C. after two months living on a desert island with Jake (Scott Foley) in the season 4 premiere of Scandal.
The fixer was located by Quinn (Katie Lowes) who informed her about Harrison’s (Columbus Short) death. Olivia returned for the funeral promising Jake that she would return to the island with him once it had taken place. Olivia’s return wasn’t greeted with the warm welcome she anticipated with Huck (Guillermo Diaz) working in an electronics store with a lot of pent up anger and Abby (Darby Stanchfield) working as the White House Press Secretary and wanting nothing to do with her former best friend.
By the episode’s end Olivia had Quinn and Huck back on the team and decided to stay in Washington D.C. much to Jake’s disappointment. Elsewhere in the episode Fitz (Tony Goldwyn) and Mellie (Bellamy Young) struggled to cope with the loss of their son with Mellie refusing to leave the White House and turning to food and drink for comfort.
The next episode of the season is The State Of The Union. Olivia helps Fitz deliver maximum impact in an important speech. Mellie’s personal struggle becomes public knowledge.
