The Leftovers finally arrived in the UK last week and what an oddly intriguing premise the show has.
The pilot picked up three years after 2% of the population vanished without explanation. Police chief Kevin Garvey (Justin Theroux) was established as the main character and although none of his family members disappeared, his family has been left in tatters. His wife Laurie (Amy Brenneman) has joined the mysterious Guilty Remnant cult and his two children are struggling to cope with their lives.
The first episode established the growing tension between the Guilty Remnant and the town as the third anniversary of the disappearances was marked with a Heroes Day. The episode ended with Megan (Liv Tyler) giving in to the Guilty Remnant after being pursued by them for days. Is she going to become a member of the cult?
The next episode of the season is Penguin One, Us Zero. Following his disturbing encounters, Kevin visits a therapist.
