Lord Richard Attenborough has died at the age of 90 it has been reported.
BBC News had the sad news confirmed by Attenborough’s son earlier today. Attenborough was a British film actor and director best-known for his roles in Jurassic Park and Brighton Rock.
In 1982 he won the Oscar for Best Director for his work on Gandhi which starred Sir Ben Kingsley.
At this stage no further information has been released about Attenborough’s death. He had been living in a home with his wife Sheila Sim since March 2013 as he coped with ailing health.
Richard was the brother of critically-acclaimed naturalist and television producer David Attenborough.
Our thoughts go out to his family and friends at this difficult time. He will be sorely missed and was a British legend.
