The Color Purple to debut at the Menier Chocolate Factory

A European premiere of The Color Purple, adapted for stage from the best-selling novel by Alice Walker, comes to the Menier Chocolate Factory this summer.

It will play 5th July to 14th September 2013, and will be directed and designed by Tony Award-winner John Doyle.

The Color Purple is an unforgettable family chronicle seen through the eyes of Celie as she journeys from childhood. The musical mixes jazz, ragtime, gospel and blues and promises to be an unforgettable theatrical experience.

It is adapted for the stage by Pulitzer Prize and Tony Award-winner Marsha Norman, with music and lyrics by Grammy award-winners Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray.

Tickets go on sale to the general public on 1st May, but Menier Chocolate Factory priority bookers can buy from 22nd April.
