Cheryl Cole winning autobiography battle

Yesterday (Thursday 11th October) was the day when the race for the bestselling book of Christmas 2012 kicked off with the release of a high number of celebrity autobiographies. The impact was immediate with Cheryl Cole, Rod Stewart, Miranda Hart and McFly all shooting straight into the top ten books bestseller chart atĀ Amazon.co.uk.

Cheryl Cole is currently at number one, sending long-running bestsellers the Hairy Bikers down the chart, along with J K Rowlingā€™s recent novelĀ The Casual Vacancy.

ā€œBiographies are always bestsellers for Christmas gifts and the publication date of these books is carefully chosen to maximise the opportunity for pre-Christmas sales,ā€ said Darren Hardy, books manager at Amazon.co.uk Ltd. ā€œCheryl Cole might not have as a high a profile as she did during her time as anĀ X FactorĀ judge but interest in her remains incredibly strong and it seems that people are rushing out to hear the story of her life, in her words.ā€

In addition to Cheryl Cole, yesterday saw the publication of autobiographies by Rod Stewart, Miranda Hart, McFly, Pete Townsend, Tyler Hamilton & Daniel Coyle, Olly Murs, Paul Oā€™Grady, David Mitchell, David Walliams, Will Young and Pudsey the Britainā€™s Got Talent dog.
