Skye – Featherlight single review

London local Skye Edwards has been striking out on her own since 2006, although for all her success, you may not instantly recognise the name.

The artist formerly known as lead vocalist for Morcheeba has released her much anticipated third studio album Back To Now. Following on from less popular previous full length offerings, this album marks a turning point for the songstress with a truly unique style.

As the first single to be taken from the new album, Featherlight sets the tone perfectly. Quietly confident synth beats, paired with beautifully effortless vocals create an upbeat yet ethereal tone. The perfect mix of chill out harmonies and enough rhythm to get you tapping your feet, you’ll soon forget you’re in the office battling against the ever persistent air-con whilst the leaves fall outside your window.

Though not a drastic departure from her usual raw style, Skye has created a sophisticated pop song that ticks all the boxes.
