Rising country artist Roman Alexander has released his brand-new EP ‘Midwest Calling' via Twelve6 Entertainment. The six-song collection blends Alexander’s soulful baritone with polished country soul, showcasing his strength as both a vocalist and a songwriter. Featuring tracks written with Nashville heavyweights like Jessi Alexander, Brad Tursi, Trevor Rosen, and Casey Brown, the project offers a heartfelt reflection on life, love, and the pull of home.
“Midwest Calling is a project that feels like home—not always in a comforting way, but in the most honest way,” Alexander shares. “I grew up in the Midwest, and these songs come from late nights and conversations you don’t forget. Some are about breakups that didn’t go the way you planned; others are about trying to make sense of life when it’s not all mapped out. The Midwest has a way of pulling you back, even when you think you’ve moved on.”
The tracklist includes ‘Tying One On,' ‘Mama Smoked Cigarettes' and ‘Country Dreamin’,' with Alexander co-writing five of the six songs. The standout single ‘Way Over You' arrives with an official video directed by Sean O’Halloran, filmed in Nashville in striking black-and-white. “I wrote ‘Way Over You’ with two close friends,” says Alexander. “It’s about that in-between space, going through the motions while trying to make sense of how they let go so easily.”
A Missouri native, Alexander has been chasing music since childhood, starting out singing Johnny Cash covers in small-town bars before moving to Nashville right after high school. He built his career from the ground up, working odd jobs and tour gigs before landing opening slots for Sam Hunt, Old Dominion, Jo Dee Messina, Easton Corbin, and Billy Currington. His independent debut ‘Between You & Me' (2020) featured the viral hit ‘Cocktail Conversations' and kept him on Spotify’s Hot Country playlist longer than nearly any other independent artist.
With nearly 100 million career streams, a BMI Country Award for co-writing Dustin Lynch’s ‘Party Mode,' and three EPs to his name, Alexander continues to cement his place as one of country’s most compelling new voices. ‘Midwest Calling' marks his most personal project yet—an honest and soulful collection of songs rooted in grit, heart, and the stories that keep calling you back home.
